Keeping your enteral feeding pump clean is extremely important to ensure accurate formula delivery and alarm-free usage.

Fortunately, both the Infinity and Infinity Orange enteral feeding pumps are very easy to clean with materials you have around your house. Follow these simple instructions to keep your Infinity feeding pumps clean.

Remember, to avoid electrical shock, never clean the pump or the AC adapter/charger with the charger plugged into an outlet or with the pump turned on. Always make sure the the AC adapter/charger is completely dry before plugging it into an electrical outlet.

Rinsing the pump

The pump can be rinsed under a stream of warm water. It can be further cleaned with warm soapy water (standard dish soap) and a non-abrasive sponge or soft cloth. Note: Avoid harsh cleaners and/or disinfectants as they may cause damage to the pump surface and affect pump functionality.

Fluid sensors

Infinity pumps feature several optical sensors that function like mini cameras to monitor formula flow – these sensors are located in the cassette receptacle as shown. It is important that these sensors stay clean and free of dust or debris. If the sensors are obscured, unwanted alarms may occur until the sensors are properly cleaned.

Cleaning the tubing pathway

A cotton swab can be used to clean the tubing pathway where the sensors are located. Use the cotton swab up and down the tubing pathway to remove any formula residue. Then, use the cotton swab to ensure that the sensor area is dry prior to use.
