We are excited to share the news that our manufacturing facility in Costa Rica recently earned the Shingo Bronze Medallion for operational excellence. This prestigious award recognizes those organizations that demonstrate an exceptional culture of continuous improvement.

The Shingo Institute is named after Japanese industrial engineer and Toyota adviser, Shigeo Shingo. Dr. Shingo distinguished himself as one of the world’s thought leaders in concepts, management systems, and improvement techniques that have become known as the Toyota Production System.

To earn the prestigious award, a group of accomplished professionals and examiners were invited to thoroughly review Moog’s culture and operations. They also observed the degree to which leaders focus on principles and culture that drive ideal behaviors which are consistent with Shingo principles.

Mike Henderson, our Vice President and General Manager, said that “It is an honor to receive this award, and we are very fortunate to have a team in Costa Rica that is truly committed to building a culture centered on operational excellence embracing the Shingo Principles. Continual improvement is a way of thinking and working, not an event, and this award validates that our Costa Rican team is on the correct path and trajectory for sustained excellence.”

The Shingo Bronze Medallion is the third of three awards bestowed on organizations by the Shingo Institute. The highest achievement is the Shingo Prize. “Receipt of the Shingo Bronze Medallion signifies an organization’s mastery of fundamental tools and techniques for improving an organization’s operations,” said Ken Snyder, executive director at the Shingo Institute. “Organizations that receive the Bronze Medallion are making great progress on their journey to achieving enterprise excellence.”

Representatives of Moog Medical Devices SRL in Costa Rica will be recognized as a Shingo Bronze Medallion recipient during the Shingo Institute’s Awards Gala at the 35th Annual Shingo Conference held on May 23-24, 2023, in Provo, Utah, USA.
