CURLIN 8000’s curvilinear mechanism and a more powerful motor

Design insight: A refined curvilinear mechanism paired with a stronger motor enables the CURLIN 8000 to deliver smoother, more consistent flow across diverse therapy needs.

Accurate, uninterrupted flow is the foundation of successful home infusion. Medications must be delivered at the intended rate, for the intended duration, and through a system that maintains stability despite patient movement, variable environments, and long run times. The CURLIN 8000 Ambulatory Infusion Pump was engineered with these realities in mind, combining a proven curvilinear pumping mechanism with a larger, more capable motor to support consistent performance across a wide range of therapies.

The CURLIN 8000 continues the curvilinear design used across all CURLIN ambulatory infusion pumps. In this architecture, the pumping fingers follow a curved path around the motor. This creates space for more fingers within a compact layout, which results in a smoother and more continuous delivery pattern (Continuity of Flow). Instead of producing sharp pulses of flow, the mechanism creates a steady forward motion that supports a more uniform infusion profile (Resolution of Flow).

To enhance this performance, the CURLIN 8000 incorporates a larger, more powerful motor. This upgraded motor delivers flow rates up to 500 mL per hour while maintaining an infusion accuracy of plus or minus 5 percent*. The additional torque strengthens the consistency of each compression cycle, helping the pump maintain stable flow even when therapy demands increase or when tubing encounters minor variations in resistance.

These mechanical elements work together to maximize both Resolution and Continuity of Flow. Higher resolution means the pump can deliver smaller, more precise displacement volumes with each stroke. Greater continuity means fewer drops, dips, or interruptions in the flow pattern. These qualities are especially important for long-duration therapies that run overnight or extend across multiple hours, where even subtle inconsistencies can affect patient outcomes.

The overall design reflects a focus on real-world stability, which leads to more reliable therapy. By combining the advantages of curvilinear pumping with a stronger motor, the CURLIN 8000 supports smooth, predictable fluid delivery for both short-duration infusions and complex, multi-hour treatments like TPN. Patients and caregivers benefit from a system built to maintain consistent performance across diverse conditions and therapy types.
